Miss K's Edtech

Welcome!

This site has been created for the purpose of an IT assignment within a Deakin University course subject. Within these pages you will find references to technology that could be used within a Primary classroom.

While the aim of this project was to create a lesson plan that integrate two technologies to support student learning, there is a significant amount of time and effort put into drawing your attention to what can be disadvantages (and advantages) to this lesson suggestion while  using the two technologies.

In order for students to be engaged in learning there is a significant amount of emphasis for schools to have interactive whiteboards in the classroom. These are fantastic, if used appropriately, however there are a number of schools that are yet to get such technology to use, if they will get it at all. Please note: there are alternative avenues! While teachers are often quick to place students on computers during 'free time' there is more that you as a teacher, can do with the computers. With new technology being created every day such as Twitter or Facebook, there are unlimited uses to how you can spice up your classroom and keep the students engaged. For the purpose of this blog, I am going to address two technologies that could be implemented within one lesson plan for use of Humanities (Geography and Civics and Citizenship) where students can bridge the gap between communities overseas and compare how the local community differs to one overseas.
